I have unfortunately had to be vaccinated to be able to continue to fly which I do often. Unfortunately here in NZ you cannot board a domestic flight now unless you have a vaccine pass and I am guessing in a few months time I will need to get a booster to continue to be able to travel. I did not want to get vaccinated I do not want any booster shots and are angry as hell about being forced into it and after reading your article are even more pissed off with it.

His failed valves have been stabilized with medication for several weeks now, but the much bigger issue has become some kind of incredibly severe cognitive degeneration- he's violent, delusional, and completely confused. He's recently needed lots of restraints and sedation, something that as his health care proxy makes me sick to my stomach every time I find myself with no choice but to authorize it.
The optimistic people on his care team remain convinced that this is still acute alcohol withdrawal syndrome and that his cognitive abilities will return and it's just a matter of time- we've literally ruled out every other testable condition. The less optimistic think this is some kind of rapid-onset dementia which, at the rate he has been going downward, will mean incapacitation and death (dad has explicitly refused any and all life preservation in the event of permanent unconsciousness and other such). We have been reviewing living wills and such on his bad days.
Last night was unusually good- I had a sustained conversation with him that was sensible (he used sentences and his speech was logical) even if quite a bit of it was confused- he told me about people that weren't really there and so forth. But it was a major improvement in coherency and calmness. So who knows? Maybe he peaked and the cognitive shit is all withdrawal.
And crazily, this began as a sane man walking himself into the hospital for sudden-onset congestive heart failure as his biggest problem in life.
Oh, and I haven't forgotten that the sudden-onset CHF happened the day after a booster shot.
My thoughts remain with you both. I pray that there will be more moments of lucidity and calm in the days ahead. There is always room for hope. Much love and positive energy.

I have been wondering when the matter of annual re-exposure, much like we have with influenza, would be addressed. And how that fitted in with the natural immunity narrative. I had an instinctive grasp of this - that we are constantly being exposed to slightly shifting variants, most of which we had some sort of "carry-over" immunity from previous exposures, but was wondering how this was explained in technical terms. And thus, if I understand correctly, our natural immunity is still neutralising for the exact replica of what we have already overcome, and is also a strong adversary for any subsequent "offspring" of the vanquished variant, correct? And these variants ordinarily (for their own endemic survival) would undergo a type of entropy towards "infectious enough to spread, but not deadly enough to eradicate its hosts". It therefore would make sense that we constantly hone our skills against these shifting variants by being exposed to them, and to utilise our "down time" to keep our bodies healthy and primed for battle. Vaccinations become somewhat redundant in this whole scenario, as they are always going to be a step behind what we are already doing. The fact that we are still being pushed to take a vaccine that's tailored only for the original strain and we're a whole bunch of greek letter variants down the road already, and the fact that the world will never be able to roll any "updates" out on time and simultaneously inject everyone makes this all so obvious, if you really think about it. And why even bother with Omicron? It appears to be the very thing that both the virus and the humans want, really - not too hot, and zipping through fast.
