Many excellent points, as always, Julius. I will quibble with you on a couple of points I've spent a considerable amount of time studying. I fear you may be misreading Desmet's thesis a little. I don't think he was trying to say that society was in a good condition when the "pandemic" was declared—quite the opposite. You don't get frustrated, angry, isolated people in a society that is cohesive and has intact family and social structures. Desmet cites the late David Graeber's book Bullshit Jobs as proof that what once gave people a sense of meaning and mission in life—occupations they cared about—had deteriorated to become a source of emptiness and disillusionment and mere pay. That began when capitalists started exporting jobs and factories overseas in the 1980s simply to increase profit margins. Here's where we see the self-destructive aspect of human nature—exploitation for self-enrichment despite disastrous long-term consequences.

Religion is of course the elephant in the room here too. I think Will and Ariel Durant were of the opinion that society absolutely needs a religion of some kind to bind it together. That of course has unraveled during most of my lifetime, so that where once 80-90% of people polled in America, Britain, Europe or Canada identified as Christian, now probably less than a quarter of that percentage do, and our so-called "intellectuals" in universities teach outright hatred of Christianity. Not saying we necessarily need a return to Christianity. In my book, Words From the Dead: Relevant Readings in the Covid Age, I wrote that it's the ACT of faith that matters, not its doctrinal content.

For example, in the original TV series for All Creatures Great and Small, set in both pre-and post-WWII eras, there's a scene where the James Herriott family attends a church service. All the village children march down the aisle to present baskets of harvest fruits to the priest, who receives them graciously. It's a way of saying, "We're grateful to the Creator for all this abundance, and we want to give back." It's been done for millennia, no matter what the religion. Does it matter whether we name the Creator Jupiter or Jehovah or Brahma? I don't think so. It's the ritual act of return, of gratitude, that matters. This is why atheism proved such a dismal failure—it failed to find an alternative for this fundamental spiritual need in people.

Religion at its best reminds us to serve something besides ourselves, to be humble and to show gratitude. At its worst it is weaponized by power elites or evangelical lunatics. I suffered from these latter types in my own upbringing. So if you remove the religious impulse (or try to) you get a lot of self-serving narcissists who end up fueling the dog-eat-dog ethos because after all, only you matter, so do what you will to get ahead.

An essential book in this context is Jean Twenge and Keith Campbell's The Narcissism Epidemic, which charts the decline of empathy in tandem with the increase of narcissism in Western society. So-called elites pander to this impulse because they see it as a useful means of promoting consumerism and thus increasing profits.

Finally—and although it's a little to the side of your main point, it's not trivial—there is substantial evidence now for the geoengineering project popularly dubbed "chemtrails." If you haven't read Peter A. Kirby's exhaustively researched book, Chemtrails Exposed, it's not really fair of you to call it a conspiracy theory. There's also Dane Wigington's extensive research—including the testimony of retired pilots—on his website geoengineeringwatch.org. His documentary "The Global Dimming" is worth watching.

It actually ties in well with your book Plunderers of the Earth regarding the false assumptions made by the scientific community related to climate change. Once again, in the name of "fighting climate change" and "slowing global warming" we are making the environment far worse than if we just left it alone. This is the real reason our forests are tinder dry, since much of what is being sprayed acts as dessicants, as does the glyphosate sprayed on crops and forests to "fight invasive species," yet another fallacy. Universities are now openly claiming to be exploring geoengineering "for the first time" but this is refuted by the many documents Kirby cites, quotes or reproduces in his book revealing that the military has been experimenting with this since the 1950s.

And be careful of succumbing to the Israel lobby's weaponizing of "antisemitism." The genocide of 50,000 Palestinians is perfectly reasonable grounds for protest, the turning of their country to an uninhabitable pile of rubble hardly "self-defense."

We're living in a PsyOp minefield, so everywhere you step, there's another one waiting to blow your head off... It would be worth exploring why an advanced society thinks deploying PsyOps on its populace is an acceptable practice at all, given the massive harm it causes to social cohesion. The self-destructive urge again?

Sorry this comment is so long! I look forward to Part 2...

I read "The Psychology of Totalitarianism" by Mattias Desmet. It was more vague than it might have been. I think he needed to point out the connections with the practical levels of life which we are all seeing in front of us.....and suggest how to change that for the better. I understand the theory, but those under this attack need a bit more.

Desmet also completely leaves out one of the major aspects of totalitarianism -- which is the involvement of the Cluster-B disorders. Or the Freudian Id. His omission perplexed a lot of us who know totalitarianism.

You write eloquently and I have to say I agree on pretty much everything and would be taken in by your slipping in the chemtrail thing if I had not had to research it twice for the benefit of my late mother who was hooked by proponents.

There is no science to clearly say if contrails will increase of decrease temperature yet the chemtrail proponents will make either claim as it suits them with no science.

Wigington is a fraud. His site is propaganda and he refuses to remove any errors in any material that still promote his cause and says ballast tanks in planes are simply illustrating a big plane. He uses incorrect UV radiation readings to promote an angle but fails to correct the results when his errors are documented. He is paid, ideological or just ignorant, I cannot know which, but everything that stems from that poisoned tree is a psy-op.

Cloud seeding is real but not a chemtrail conspiracy.

Geoengineering is a thing but not the cause of contrails, they have been around before the second world was as planes flew higher and chemtrail hysteria started in the 1970's.

I have a hunch that the chemtrail thing started as a sport by some in response to fears of the ignorant to contrails and at some point was determined by some branch of the global psy-op to be a handy way to confuse the ignorant and waste their time for very little money and identify the credulous to fed them other lies.

Have you read Peter Kirby's book? At the end of every chapter he provides all his sources, including patent numbers for the various technologies used to deploy this atmospheric geoengineering. Copious research support there that delves into the earliest experiments in cloud seeding that are not in question such as those done through the work of Bernard Vonnegut at GE. (Even Wikipedia—biased as it is—has a page on this topic.) His brother the novelist Kurt Vonnegut even satirizes these experiments in one of his novels with something he calls "ice blue." This of course is purely circumstantial but the bulk of Kirby's book is well supported. He also provides soil test sample results indicating increasing levels of aluminum and other metals over time. Sounds pretty convincing to me.

A patent means NOTHING in this context and in the limit can be calculated to mean some malicious person has patented something to irritate me and inflame you. I can patent a novel method to suspend Ricin in a stick/block of butter as hydrophilic gel that will not migrate into the bulk of the butter leaving the outer surfaces safe to use. This does not mean butter is being used to kill people. I might make the patent to earn royalties if some rogue regime starts to use my novel technique, I could be patent squatting or wanting to irritate some dairy board or have shares in a margarine company.

Lots of lovely noise about interesting family ties.

I want to see those soil reports taken before and after rain and before and after winds that have brought dust from the Sahara across the Atlantic into the Apalachians. I want the tests to be run on deserted islands in lakes away from air transport routes and the same for oceans. Aluminium is one of the most common elements in the Earths crust look harder for evidence.

For a start try and find JUST ONE step in the cycle from Psychopath to Harm that can be tested, and TEST IT. Come back to me with a result. Use other published results if you like but for your peace of mind I recommend you pick the spot and make the test yourself.

How are the chemicals sprayed, how are they loaded, what are they, are they mixed with fuel and if so do they change in a jet engine, are they always on, who makes the chemical, how is it transported to the airport, loaded/pumped onto the plane, what are the components, how can they be measured, what are the control samples, what is the harm mechanism, can the chemical be measured in the air, rain, snow, hail, fog, soil, storm water, rivers, ocean, crops, trees, tree rings or bones (wild animal trophies), under layers of paint that are older than contrails and compared to modern deposits, in continuous particulate monitoring samples, etc, etc etc.

There are scores of tests that could be made to prove it if it were happening yet not a single one has been done properly. NOT ONE.

This is a hoax and it is used to make us waste time. Label every source that promotes it as malicious or misguided as you best see fit.

Funny, I live in a remote area that has only a regional airport with maybe one flight per day to Kelowna and Vancouver. Yet some days I watch multiple flights creating grid patterns that then dissipate to form a complete cloud cover. I've watched and photographed them following on the same flight path literally within minutes of one another. Where are they going if they're just regular flights? Since when do commercial flights do that? And why would any air traffic controller allow such close formation so close together unless it's military? The standard "contrails" explanation you and the authorities promote doesn't hold up. The fact that you're willing to dismiss Kirby's book without even reading it is a big red flag.

Expand full comment
Kalle Pihlajasaari's avatar

No, not a red flag. The fact that your source probably has not a single slam dunk testable hypothesis to offer is a red flag. Please dig out one tested hypothesis from the book and lets prod it a bit and see if it squeals or if it has merit, you can probably find debunks for each one yourself if you want but I will help you look so you don't have to eliminate all your evidence before presenting it. Commercial flights do whatever is cheapest and this is usually straight from A to B unless there is a storm in the way.

In Finland we have sort of a couple of international airports. Here in Helsinki all the low flying planes on approach or taking off locally are too low to generate contrails so most planes here do not make them. The planes overflying Finland or going to one of the more northern airports may be at contrail altitude and if conditions are suitable the tracks will form. Sometimes they persist, sometimes not, depends of the atmospheric conditions.

Have a look at your neighbourhood on the flight trackers. I have here a link to the first one in my search. It should open up with Kelowna and Vancouver on the screen. I watched it briefly and it looks like there is a plane or two on that route all the time coming or going, long lived contrails will build up and with wind drift slowly paint the air at cruising altitude white. In between they probably reach cruising altitude to stay well above any mountains and conserve fuel so probably able to make contrails when the atmospheric conditions are suitable. Some of the flight tracker software used to display trails (only if you click a plane) but this is normally too clutered so does not seem to be turned on here, sot sure if it is an option, did not look. I also suggest you leave the tracker open (you have to reload the page after 30 minutes if not a subscriber) and then see if there are any planes flying overhead that are not listed commercial flights. Obviously AirForceOne and similar will not show up with other military flights but they probably do not use commercial flight lanes either. You should be able to identify most planes, those with contrails and those without at different altitudes

Contrails are kind of interesting, they demonstrate a nearly saturated or super saturated condition in the upper atmosphere that is able to form clouds (contrails) with the introduction of additional water vapour and/or soot particles or merely the turbulence of the aeroplanes wake. Once a cloud starts to form it can cause a cascade and the cloud may grow if the air was super saturated or it may dissipate if the air is too dry and the exhaust humidity spreads out too much. I assume you understand about stagnation layers in the atmosphere that limit the mixing vertically due to density changes due mostly to humidity and temperature. This means without a updraft or other large turbulence a cloud will from in layers if it starts to form.

Your trope about aluminum being the most common element in the Earth's crust is so old you should brush up on your propaganda. The Al in the Earth is chemically bound up and not the same as the loose chemically active Al that is found in rainwater and now in the soil.

Also, tests have been done. No one is going to pay for a real publishable study to be done. A regular citizen can't afford to pay for that. Why don't YOU just take a rain water sample at your location and have it analyzed? I know it's a lot to ask, but in the name of scientific curiosity, if nothing else. I plan to do it myself but have been too lazy. The sample I collected in a glass jar eventually turned a disgusting brown color which I thought was unusual. My only excuse for not having it analyzed besides laziness and the cost is I don't need to be convinced that they are spraying something. I know they are. I just don't know exactly what.

I will pledge to test my rainwater if you will do the same.

After a particular scare in the Appalachians a decade or so ago where the chemtrail enthusiasts made it into the news and scared lots of people who got onto the case of the local health folk, numerous tests of surface water were made. They found trace amounts of stuff that has been in all similar samples from other places.

I live just outside Helsinki, Finland. I am lucky to see 2 high flying jets a day if I am outdoors that leave contrails. I might see an additional 2-10 jets on approach or departure from the local international airport but they fly too low to leave contrails and I have to be closer to the airport.

For me to do tests would be of limited value unless I could somehow take samples from a busy location and compare it to somewhere like here but similar in all other respects which is very hard. Perhaps testing the rain or air under the departure runway would be the best way to get a worst case sample. I expect you would find a bit of unburnt kerosene (jet A-1) and soot.

Urban smog is a real thing (and used to contain lead, a heavy metal and still has most of the other stuff but reduced with catalytic converters (after the lead was removed from petrol/gasoline) and the Ad-Blue injection (with modern diesel engines). I can say that there are many heavily populated cities where people voluntarily wear face masks because the air quality is low. I have never heard of a majority of a population wearing masks because there are contrails in the lower stratosphere. Have you ever wondered how long it takes for the air/cloud/contrail to move down to the ground level the contrails are much higher than rain clouds and how far down wind it will be before it reaches the ground?

In any event I forgot to riddle you the parallel: If you were a filthy rich globalist would you piss in your own well?

or

What could compel YOU to poison the air that YOU breathe?

Lead from petrol goes everywhere, it is banned.

Mercury from coal stations goes everywhere, it must be scrubbed.

Mercury in the chlor-alkili process leaves traces in raw chemicals, it is banned in the EU.

DDT causes problems for bald eagles and humans, banned in western countries though they still make for the third world.

Ozone layer destruction could extend to populated latitudes and poses increased UVC and skin cancer risk (UVB makes Vitamin-D3 and reduces skin cancer) so CFCs are banned.

Basically those things that can harm that you cannot avoid personally the globalists get rid of eventually. The other things that do not harm they either ignore or use as a psy-op to waste time and instill fear.

Try and do some simple calculations to see how much stuff you would have to spray at 30’000ft to be able to detect it in a rain shower.

With a wingspan of say 50m (30-80m) track one km long is 50’000m² with 2mm/h that is 100m³ or 100kilolitres during one hour of light rain under the 1km contrail path. Plane spent at least 1/800h=4.5 seconds passing that track. It will have consumed 10tons (2-10tons) of fuel per hour or 10/800=1/80=12.5l of fuel in 4.5 seconds. So if the fuel tanks were full of pure “loose chemically active Al“ and the plane was gliding on solar power we would have 12.5l of poison in every 100’000l of light rain below a planes flight path or 125 ppm. So what will adjust that number. Well there will be more than one plane passing but there will also mostly be open sky between contrails with no planes. There is also the vast 99% of the globe where there are no flight paths and the fact that the plane is not solar powered and this is considering the fuel which is needed to fly the plane so you would need massive tanks to store the non free stuff if it was not blended with the fuel. If it is blended with the ALL fuel why does it not make contrails all the time especially during take off when fuel consumption is MUCH higher? If it is in ALL the fuel why do some contrails (at different altitudes) disperse and others do not.

Simply put, if you study any of the chemtrail claims carefully they eventually hit a credibility wall or a physical limit. It does not matter now many theories there are about chemtrails if NONE of them can be proven. Sort of like fairies and unicorns, lots of reports of smoke but nowhere to find smoke and no place to look for a fire.

Hello Finland pt 2

I guess I violated my own rules on length, Sorry. I'll resume where I was cut off.

I am not even in one of the most heavily sprayed areas, but on days when they are active, I might see 2-4 planes in the sky at the same time spraying, That's on top of the 2-5 regular planes, with regular contrails that are in the sky and then the 3-? that most people don't see at all because they have no contrails.

First,

Hello, Finland.

I appreciate your many arguments and believe you are sincere in your attempts to be logical. However, your replies are much too long to have a discussion. I don't have time to try to answer all your points at once. Could you please keep it to a couple of paragraphs/Questions/Theories at a time? We can go over them all, just not at once.

My first answer to you is I will have to check your facts unless you have something to show me regarding altitudes of flight paths. I don't doubt that's possible but even so 6,000 ft is not that much considering flight paths and altitudes change every day with every flight (I don't know how much, but they are mostly between 30k-40k ft)

Yes aircraft have changed. 747's were never the predominant aircraft. Possibly 707's or 727's or DC-10's when I first started watching. But my point was the engine technology has changed very little. Yes they have become more efficient, but that would make less of a contrail, not more.

My last point for now (Because I have to go on my roof and set up my air-conditioning for the coming summer) will sound like I'm being an A-hole, and I am one, but I don't mean it that way.

If you only have the air traffic that you describe, you really have no comprehension of what we are talking about. It's one thing to talk about theories, but over here we experience this phenomena almost every day in very extreme quantities. Haven't you seen any of the pictures of the sky? I am not even in one of the most heavily sprayed areas, but on days when they are active, I might see 2-4 planes in the sky at the same time spraying, That's on top of the 2-5 regular planes, with regular contrails that are in the sky and then the 3-? that most people don't see at all because they have no contrails.

I suggest a teleological explanation for the existence of religion in successful societies- the ones without it did not survive.

In terms of the Israelis in Gaza it might be instructive to recast the Melian Dialogues as a conversation between the Israelis and Hamas. As noted, the citizens who were fated to be killed or enslaved were "represented" by a select group of leaders.

The books and formal literature on pathological Narcissism have exploded over the last 20 years or so. Perhaps reflecting its growth in society, or perhaps reflecting that individuals are speaking out now about living in absolute Upside-down worlds if their family is run by a pathological Narcissist. What these people do on a regular basis blows the mind.

Pathological Narcissism and the more severe Psychopathy are at one polar end of the Empathy Spectrum within humanity. At the other polar end is what might be termed "Goodism". Despite conclusions that could be jumped to here, Goodism is a bad in its own way as pathological Narcissism. The individual suffers in this case, and fails to self-develop. Whereas in Narcissism, it it the Other who suffers.

The Narcissist must move towards the middle, stopping there. The Goodist must also move towards the middle, stopping there. Homeostasis is the ideal.

I look at the Freudian ideas of the human unconscious being made of the Id, Ego, Superego. The Id being Narcissistic and the Superego being Goodist. Neither works as an approach to life.

Twenge and Campbell's book The Narcissism Epidemic does a good job of charting the steady rise in this problem over time and how it has negatively affected overall levels of empathy for other people. They don't get into what caused it or whether they think narcissism is inherent or acquired. I think the jury is still out on that. When it comes to outright psychopathy, the psychology papers I've read suggest a neurological difference from a typical brain while others see it as arising from environmental, i.e. social, influences. Given that there's a steady increase in narcissism over the past several decades the social theory is probably true but with psychopathy I lean toward the biological explanation.

Thank you Sean. I am a bit more than a casual observer. I have been working on related issues for quite some time.

Psychopathy can be due to head injury or not fully known biological issues. But Psychopathy can be induced too. The majority of cases are due to the latter. Approximately 1% of a general population are Psychopaths. So one in every hundred people. That adds up. You find the majority of them in positions of power. CEOs, surgeons, politicians, etc.

I linked the Karen Mitchell PhD thesis here, and the Lobaczewski Ponerology book is another reliable resource. Dr. Robert Hare is a Canadian professional who popularizes some of his work on Psychopathy in general interest books, too.

However, which came first, the chicken or the egg? Do Psychopaths arrive in response to a certain "prey" mind-set in society, or is it the other way around? And if the mind-set is first, what causes that frame of mind? Very complex.

Lovely post, the following puzzles me now and then, not because it is unexpected but because how resistant the idea is in logical people.

"For example, consider how many Covid dissidents have nonetheless fallen for the “chemtrails” conspiracy theory, or became firmly convinced that there were microchips embedded in the Covid vaccines despite a complete lack of evidence to support this idea."

They are clearly artificial but sanctioned conspiracies because there is no youtube or facebook warning and it is allowed to flourish. It is used as required to either paint followers as fools or opponents as idiots.

What is evil is that wikipedia has a rational page on chemtrails to up their credibility in the eyes of the logical thinker and then stabs you in the back with their demonisation of ivermectin and covid dissidents.

The global information psy-op has been well crafted. Much of it by ignorant people who will fight fiercely to guard a false idea that they have been given, sometimes with fame, a grant or a salary attached but falling into the old trap of not wanting to know that it is a lie.

Rings uncomfortably true Julius. Your analysis is deep and well thought out. An important read for anyone who seeks understanding of our world.

The question that circles my mind constantly is whether it is possible to guide society back to sanity or must we endure chaos and collapse to establish a new foundation.

What I have found most astonishing is the lawlessness and corruption that seems to define virtually all of our institutions at this stage. This transformation has been underway for quite some time but becomes progressively more obvious as time goes by yet not everyone can see it so clearly.

Having eschewed politics for a decade and chosen involvement in local community activities, family and traditional religion I've felt more remote from the seeming insanity and in a better position to observe. I suspect there are many who have managed to position themselves in the same way... not without challenges... but able to stay more balanced and endure. But it is hard not to see the crazies out there in large numbers. Your reference to the "herd" spoke to me as I often counsel my son to be careful and step aside when the herd gets running... even at his late teenage age he has already experienced the phenomena... of course his aware years are informed by George Floyd, COVID and the institutional overreactions that followed. Fortunately he has managed to stay focused on his educational endeavors.

I'm not sure what lies between here and a more balanced civilization but I hope to help our family, and my son, navigate the path in as secure, healthy and prosperous way possible... I suspect it will be filled with many challenges.

Mind-blowing. I can't wait for society or civilization to sort itself out and rescue humanity. From the spiritual wisdom of one Vernon Howard; for practical reasons one must live in society but never become a part of it. Meaning that one must learn to navigate through society while avoiding its endless insanity.

There are no white knights waiting on the other side of the hill to swoop down and save the day and although I live rather conservatively, I want no part of the conservative movement or any other movement (other than that of replacing government with something beyond the stone age mechanisms of all government types).

Humans being hacked upon reminds my of the movie "Young Guns" when Billy was asked by one of the regulators as to why he killed a man...his answer; he was hacking on me. I feel the same way at times.

If one must engage with the common fodder that passes for truth of the day, do these things: Ignore the MSM, assume everything the government says is a lie (you'll be right 95% of the time), have no false Gods before you (politicians, presidents, tech mongrels, celebs, etc) and blindly trust no medical authority. Religion at its best, is a means of putting gaurdrails in place. It is also a means of bonding you to your neighbors. Standing, sitting, singing in unison brings people together and builds trust in the community. It also teaches basic morality and has emergent evolutionary properties that drive a successful society forward. We threw that away, and replace it with nothing. "Nature abhors a vacuum" and hense we have the woke religion.

Religion at its worst is used by the Psycopathic Elites to control the popuation. It is the force that compels them to die for some stupid cause.

Not sure how to create a new set of religious institutions that actually mean something. We are far to fractured at this time for that to be possible.

The man told police he was chased by a group of 25 people up a flight of stairs to his car, where he was assaulted and had his car door slammed on him. He fled the campus and called the police.

Interesting story. At a Catholic university, no less.

It was an example of the same vigilante mob behaviour seen in the many Pro-Hamas events with Jews as the scapegoats, or the COVID-mania craziness with the Un-vaxxed as the designated class of target.

Here at Assumption, imaginary pedophiles seemed to be their target. In Parental Alienation (family totalitarianism) the innocent loving parent -- in the family now controlled by the other Cluster-B parent -- is the target.

There is always a Cluster-B predator as the driving force, spreading false allegations against a scapegoat individual or class. This drives the mob, which forms under that Cluster-B authoritarian through groupthink and social contagion.

Many of these social media exhortations are put out there by predators and accomplished brainwashers -- the Chinese Communist Party, for instance, are some of the most accomplished brainwashers on earth. In my opinion, they even got former GG David Johnston (I found it pitiful to watch him at that "inquiry"). So teenagers surfing these sites are extremely easy pickings. Even more so because they think they are invincible.

Thank you for the excellent analysis, Julius. The levels of liberty and prosperity that we have been enjoying in the West are rare. But does rare also mean temporary? One of the reasons that it is important to pay attention to the Hamas and similar organization is that they clearly believe in the idea of making something temporary. They are confident that Israel is a temporary reality—but what else do people who do not respect liberty feel is temporary? Do they believe that we can return to a stage of society with them as masters and the majority of others living with less prosperity and liberty than we have been accustomed to? I would like to believe that rare does not necessarily mean temporary and that liberty will survive.

The informal alliance between neo-liberalism and radical Islamism is a terrifying and bizarre phenomenon.

The West better wake up to this soon and understand what is at stake in Israel, not only for Israel's liberal democracy, but also for the wider West as a whole — otherwise liberty and prosperity in the West will be very short-lived indeed. Civilization seems eternal... until one day you wake up to discover that it's not because no-one was there to defend it.

The entire Judeo-Christian value system underpinning Liberty in the West seems to be collapsing into a kind of totalitarian perversion of all those principles. Complex ideas that have long been the core of Western Civilization have been reduced to simplistic "victimhood" narratives that fit into 30-second sound bites and emotional photographs, which are so easy to weaponize by bad actors.

It's alarming to see how far things have already deteriorated into authoritarianism in the UK (i.e. grooming gang appeasement) and Canada in particular, though the rest of the West is not far behind -- all in the name of "tolerance", "democracy", "empathy", and "diversity". It's becoming increasingly difficult to even know how to frame criticism this without falling foul of their Islamophobia laws -- this is essentially squashing the West's natural immune reactions that have helped preserve liberty when liberty came under attack in previous eras.

In Part Two of this essay, one of the points I touch on is how ideas spread. A mere 10% penetration of an idea into a population is the tipping point for that idea to go mainstream -- project that thought onto a university campus, consider the demographic changes that have happened in these academic ecosystems, and it suddenly isn't so hard to understand how an entire population is having its minds hijacked.

If it only takes 10% penetration of an idea for the rest of the population to jump on board, that's a grim reflection of the fact that most people's beliefs are predominantly a product of mimickry. Our brains are very hackable. Anyway, I won't spoil part 2 by expanding any more on that idea.

Part of this liberty-destroying anti-Western ethos that has emerged in the West is undoubtedly homegrown and fueled by communist sympathizers that have always leveraged anti-colonial ideas as their path to power and resources. But as the funding and influence networks behind Western activist campaigns keep being exposed, it seems that the West's openness is also being weaponized against the West by hostile foreign forces -- China's influence networks run deep in the West, especially in Canada, but likewise the amount of funds pouring into the West (especially into Western universities and activist campaigns) from the PLO, Qatar, etc, is also deeply alarming.

Mosab Hassan Yousef (the son of one of Hamas' leaders who defected to Israel and spent 10 years working undercover in Palestine to dismantle terror attacks against Israel) has been warning about these influence networks extending into the West -- if you've never seen his interviews, I strongly recommend googling him on YouTube. Nonie Darwish is another important name that I wish people knew more about here in the West.

I was blown away to see the scale of the funds pouring into Western activist campaigns. Whatever homegrown self-hatred the West has for itself is now being professionally fanned by foreign influence in a very, very big way. The entire West -- and all the principles underpinning liberty in the West -- are an existential ideological war, and so few seem to be able to see it.

Great stuff Julius.

An old friend recommended this very old documentary made in 1985 by Granada TV in the UK....I found it quite surprising to see the very fraught history of the region under discussion told by people who were alive at the time. I'm still working my way through the rest of the series. If nothing else, it is fascinating to hear the old British accents!

Thanks, Julius. It is indeed an urgent priority for the West to wake up and ask itself why it has been so vulnerable to being exploited by the Hamas and related agendas.

Part II of your essay promises to help us understand that. Mosab Hassan Yousef and Nonie Darwish are truth tellers. Partly due to the pleasurable appeal of antisemitism, elite institutions in the West have given Hamas and related organizations the message that some intellectuals can be counted upon to spread hate and false ideas about Israel and that the majority of intellectuals can likely be counted upon to remain silent about antisemitism (and antisemitism, as others have noted, is the canary in the coalmine). If this does not stop, it means that elite institutions have essentially given up on the values of rational thought and love of liberty and have replaced them with "intellectual mannerisms" that can act as a shell for any ideology.

First, we were taught to hate ourselves and our culture, as a weakening agent. And then the overpowering cultures moved in. You can bet they do not hate themselves.

I recommend Anthropologist Francisco Gil-White (Substack) on Middle East issues as well as on Psychopathy issues. I originally landed there while researching the attraction of one totalitarian group for another -- usually leftwing totalitarians to rightwing totalitarians (as in WOKE to Islam); Franciso's writing/ideas on the triangulation in the 1930s between the PLO and the Nazis was quite consuming. He also collaborates with writer Edwin Black.

Modern Scotland under the SNP govt. of Nicola Sturgeon and then Humza Yousaf was an example of WOKE/Islam triangulation. Eventually, once they have fought off joint targets, they often turn and eat one another.

I hope they start turning on each other soon! I'll check out Francisco Gil-White's pieces - there's a lot to explore on his substack. The attraction between left and right wing totalitarianism is a very bizarre phenomenon that I have yet to fully wrap my mind around.

The attraction between left and right wing totalitarianism is a form of triangulation. You will see this in cases where they both use the same scapegoat. It gives each side further credibility to have someone else say, "I hate that target too". But target-hatred is only one part of their plans.....so when the target-hatred is accomplished they turn their energies to other destruction.

You see many of these very odd behaviours in Cluster-B relationships, because a Cluster-B relationship is a form of personal totalitarianism. Same concepts hold.

For instance, in many cases of Parental Alienation the target-parent (a Goodist) will be from a family in which a parent and siblings show Cluster-B narcissistic tendencies. And then the Goodist grows up and often marries one too.

When the Cluster-B spouse turns on the Goodist, weaponizing the children, the family members of that Goodist will join with the narcissistic spouse/in-law (NOT with their own family member) in order to hurt the joint scapegoat together.

Or the second ex-wife of a Goodist will triangulate with the first ex-wife of that same Goodist, even though the second wife had commiserated with her spouse over his bad treatment by the first wife; some multiple Narcissistic ex-wives of the same Goodist husband will move in together - specifically to raise the man's children from the different wives under one roof in joint father-hatred through false allegations to the kids. Very ugly world.

All bets of normal behaviour are off, once the narcissist/totalitarian has been activated.

Extremist religions are usually totalitarian. Such as the "Religion of Peace". Cut from the same cloth as Nazism and Communism.

In that regard, the Management of Reality Substack by Francisco Gil-White may interest you.

I will add here that suicides can cause social contagion and then copycat suicides. Decent media used to refrain from mentioning suicide in fatality reports.

And now.....we have the MAID regime in Canada. With remarkably high numbers of killings by "MAID Providers" (don't you love their fools-no-one euphemisms?). I suspect that the high numbers come at least as much from social contagion as from actual individual decisions. Which was probably planned that way.

Another great topic and discussion Julius. Clearly, most in the world have lost their minds, or have given them up to the worldly influences. You mention several times that loss of "religion" is one of the key factors causing the demise of our societies and world. I would agree but it is not "religion" that saves, it is Faith. A heart and mind given over to the God of the Bible. God's Word tells us that most will never find the "peace that passes all understanding" but many will. It is Faith, built on a firm foundation of the Word, and His Holy Spirit given to true believers that saves. Salvation isn't found in "groups" it is found by the individual with "religion" the by-product. Being human, the by-product is often lacking. God's Word tells us that there will be many teaching false doctrine, thus the necessity for each of us to read, know, and come to a more complete understanding of His Word.

As we live under the covenant of the New Testament, I would plead with all to read the New Testament with a return to the Old for the historical revelations bringing forth the New, stressing the vital importance of being in the Word every day. Paul likens our journey to a race with the greatest prize both present and eternal. The preacher in Ecclesiastes tells us all is vanity and but chasing after wind, and this is true. I could quote scripture after scripture to support this writing, however it would be meaningless to those of the worldly mindset. I would challenge all here who desire a mind and heart perfected in eternal Truth to be in the Word.

"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." Romans 10:17 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Eph. 2:8-9 Be....in the Word.

I am going to be a bit of a fly in the ointment here, Mpup. I consider myself Christian. And I do understand the very high value of mainstream religion in a workable society. I value the Judeo-Christian ethos and values.

I can also see where extremist religions or extremist versions of a religion can lead to totalitarianism. The answer is not to throw out religion....but to practice it in a balanced manner.

There is a danger in overdoing it. Contrary to popular opinion within religion, a person can indeed be "too good". The Catholics call this scrupulosity, and wise clergy counsel against it. Sigmund Freud called it one of the causes of an unbalanced psyche and un-development of Self as in the Superego (or Internalized Parent). The Disease to Please. Dr. John Sarno called these people the Goodists, and noted that they had far more mind-body disorders than the average person.

The admonition to "love thy neighbour as thyself" often gets misinterpreted as loving ONLY thy neighbour and not thyself. Which ironically leads to many personal and social problems. The Self requires homeostasis as opposed to Goodism/scrupulosity. Not one polar extreme of Narcissism, and not the other polar extreme of Goodism.

"Political Ponerology: The Science of Evil, Psychopathy, and the Origins of Totalitarianism" by Andrew Lobaczewski

This is the second edition, which I recommend over the first.

The editor, Harrison Koehli, from the small Alberta publisher which took this on after the manuscript had had several adventures since WWII, has a Ponerology Substack. Harrison and I fell out last year after he disliked my support of Israel. At the time, he was focusing on working through the PhD thesis on Dark Personalities by Dr. Karen Mitchell of Australia https://kalmor.com.au/media
